Gateview Committees

Gateview has a number of Committees. All of the committees, except the Architecture Committee, are purely advisory. That is, by their initiative or the initiative the Board of Directors, they study issues in their area of expertise and make recommendations to the Board. Committees also can undertake activities as volunteers, as long as those activities don't violate existing policies at Gateview.

If you would like to serve on a committee, please contact the chairperson of that committee. All committee meetings are open to any Gateview owner or resident. If you have a general question about something, the committee chairs are good people to ask. If there is no contact information on this page, you can leave a message for them at the office.

Architectural Review Cmte. Is responsible for approving changes to the way that Gateview appears. In addition, variances from the CC&R's can be granted by this committee. Finally, as one or more architects and engineers are typically on the committee, they provide useful advice in regard to capital projects. Meets as needed, typically about once a month. Finance Cmte. Is responsible for understanding the budget, balance sheet, and reserve funding. Helps the Board develop the annual budget. Looks for savings and additional revenue opportunities. Ketki Shah
Governance Is responsible for understanding the CC&R's, By-Laws, and Guide to Living. Can recommend changes to these documents for review by the Board. Interfaces with the City of Albany and Alameda County. For each city election, runs candidate nights for Gateview and the neighborhood. Clara-Rae Genser Sol Strand
Landscaping Is responsible for inspecting and evaluating our landscaping, and recommending actions to the Board, in addition to possibly mobilizing volunteers for special landscaping improvement activities. Clara-Rae Genser Nancy Cruff
Nominating Is responsible for finding suitable volunteers to run for the Board and to fill mid-term vacancies. (This committee is typically formed when there is an election or openings on the Board.) Mary Pynenburg
Operations Is responsible for finding best practices in regard to the operation of Gateview, and recommending these practices to the Board. Also responsible for water and energy conservation. Meets monthly, on Tuesdays, at the Clubhouse, check at the GHOA office or our Calendar web-page to find the next date. Gwen McMillan Ginny Marsh Steve Hoagland
Recreation / Social Is responsible for assisting with all recreational facilities at Gateview: The tennis courts, pool, gym, spa, sauna, locker rooms, plaza, and table-tennis room. Also responsible for community building and enjoyable special activities. Mary Pynenburg Jim Lindsay
Safety Is responsible for improving overall safety at Gateview, including day-to-day issues, disaster preparedness and education, and security. Bett Martinez Steve Hoagland
